At Sunrise Mission we strive to show the love of Christ by offering our neighbors a "hand up" in a time of need. We offer short term shelter, case management , and food. As we meet immediate needs, we also work to help our Guests regain personal independence and become proud and productive members of our community.

Donations and Assistance
Like so many of our neighbors during the time of Covid-19 our outreach is still more limited in 2022. Still, we often receive inquiries from community members who want to know how they can help their neighbors in need. There are many ways to support the ministry of Sunrise Mission. If you would like to make a cash donation, you may do so at the bottom of this page.
Many donors have requested that we post a list of items that we always seem to be in need of. This list is current as of November 2020:
Ongoing Needs:
- Cash Donations
- Bus Ticket books (dial a ride)
- Gift Cards (Walmart, Meijer, Home Depot, fast food)
- Reusable grocery bags and totes
- Non perishable food items (crackers, granola bars, bagged tuna or chicken salad, individual instant coffee, etc...)
- Unexpired food, including canned goods, pasta, meat
- Pajamas for men and women sizes small to Plus sizes
- Thermal underwear (new or gently used, please. In all sizes)
- Underwear (new items are appreciated)
- Dish Soap and dishwasher soap
- Laundry Supplies (soap, softener)
- Kitchen utensils (silverware, cooking utensils)
- Tall Kitchen Bags
- Large Leaf Bags
- Bathroom Cleaner
- Cleaning Supplies
Furnishings and Appliances:
Our furniture and appliances are very heavily used here, so they break down often. We realize that the items on this list are what could be called "big ticket" items. We ask that if you are considering a donation of these items to a thrift store, you consider a donation to The Mission!

- Flooring for main mission building
- Sturdy Dressers and Chests of drawers
- Night Stands
- End Tables
- Metal lamps (glass lamps break)
- Bedbug resistant mattresses (we cannot use regular mattresses, unfortunately)
We are so humbled by not only the generosity of our neighbors in Northern Michigan, but by the compassion, kindness, and heartfelt consideration that is shown to our Sunrise Mission Guests and staff members. Thank you just does not seem to be adequate to express our gratitude for all you do.
